Our New Project

At our meeting on 18th October 2011 we had a presentation from one of the directors of Zespół Szkól NR1 w Sopocie which is located at ul. Książat Pomorskiek 16-18 in Sopot. This school has over 500 pupils and more than 20% of the children are from underprivileged backgrounds and dysfunctional families. She appealed to our club for assistance in providing these underprivileged children with school meals, text books and winter clothing. The Club immediately decided to assist the school and gave an immediate donation of PLN10,000 to the Parent/Teachers Association to spend the money on these very needy children. The school also needs a media projector which will cost approximately PLN10,000 and we are seeking a sponsor to fund this requirement.

Special Vehicle for the Hospice

Almost two years ago, the Club was asked by Father Piotr Krakowiak who runs the Father E Dutkiewicza Hospice, located in ul. Kopernika in Gdansk for help to provide a special vehicle adapted to transport patients who are confined to wheelchairs.

We are pleased to announce that this specialist vehicle has been purchased and equipped for wheelchair access and it will be handed over to the Hospice at a ceremony which will take place on Saturday 30th January 2010 before the Club’s Anniversary Ball in the Grand Hotel Sopot which takes place that evening.

Our Projects

The primary purpose of Rotary International is to make it possible for members to have an organized way to contribute to positive developments in their communities, while enjoying the fellowship of other professional and business leaders. Our current activities for the year 2014-15 include projects which are both local and international.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE TUITION FOR CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE

Our chapter of Rotary International decided that the best way for us to help make the Tri – City of Gdansk, Gdynia, and Sopot in which we are located a better place was to organize and fund a programme of English instruction for underprivileged children who would otherwise not have access to such an opportunity. The Club sponsors English language tuition for children in foster care.

SUPPORT TO SCHOOL NR 1, SOPOT

We provide annual support to School Nr 1 in Sopot so that those children who are less fortunate are able to partake in all school activities and realise their full potential. Our support ensures that these children are adequately fed, have warm clothes for the Winter and are able to partake in extra-curricular activities.

3. SUPPORT FOR ST ANTHONY’S HOME IN LIMURU, KENYA
